4 Key Components for Approved Study Permits.

Of course, there are many pieces to a successful study permit application. However, the majority of the approvals we see have these 4 commonalities.

    1. YOU MUST HAVE THE MONEY. Immigration Canada is very clear and specific on how much money you must have to support yourself while studying. We always suggest (when possible) to have that money on deposit here in Canada. Immigration Canada needs to know that this money is really for your living expenses – and that it will not simply disappear.

    2. PREPAY THE TUITION. Many schools will allow you to pay your tuition and you should prepay your tuition for the full year. Read that again and again.

    3. STRONG EXPLANATORY LETTER. You need to connect the dots between your past, your studies in Canada and what you intend to do after you graduate – IN YOUR HOME COUNTRY. Remember, you are coming here to study and not to live. Immigration Canada needs to know that you will go home at the end of your stay. They do not want a sob story. They want a reason for why you are coming to study and they need to believe you.

    4. STRONG ACADEMIC OR WORK HISTORY. If you were a weak student in your home country, the chances of you doing well here are slim. Most successful applicants have done well academically in their home country OR they have a strong work history that is connected to their proposed studies in Canada.
