I’m A Caregiver in Canada. When Can I File PR?

Untitled design

If you’re in Canada as a caregiver (outside Quebec) and you meet the educational (ECA) and language requirements for the caregiver pilot program, YOU DO NOT NEED TO WAIT UNTIL YOU REACH 12 MONTHS to file. As long as your stream (childcare or home support) is open and accepting applications, you can file under the “gaining experience category.” If you have already reached 12 months of work experience, then you can file under the “direct to permanent residence” stream if it remains open.

SUMMARY: You can file your PR before reaching 12 months of work experience. This program does not apply to caregivers in Quebec.

If you are a caregiver in Canada with a work permit, call or text 604-260-5002 to understand your PR options.
